I am a film + digital portrait and lifestyle photographer with an editorial/documentary style. I photograph entrepreneurs, artisans, creatives, families, people in their homes, and interiors.

With my background as a licensed social worker, I also specialize in therapeutic portraiture that centers growth, change, and celebration of self.

I was a child welfare social worker for over a decade. My approach to photography is deliberate, intentional, thoughtful, mindful, and rooted in equity, presence and integrity. I deeply value storytelling of all kinds and I get my inspiration from painters, humanitarians, and everyday exchanges between family members, strangers, and communities.

I only work with and for people who’s values align with my own. The resulting imagery carries a soul within it because of these aspects. To me, the depth of connection and relationship building are paramount to good image making. We don’t have to be besties, but the investment I make isn’t just in producing beautiful photography, it’s in being attentive, curious, and enthusiastic about you, your family, your project, and whatever it is you’ve created and want documented.

Photo galleries are delivered through a high quality online gallery platform 2-6 weeks from your session.

All images delivered are web-resolution for download. If you would like to order prints you can do so through your gallery store or for fine-art prints through my local printer and framer.

It depends on the purpose of your session:

• For Commercial, Branding & Editorial Clients: Yes. Because your images are business assets that may be used for website launches, book covers, or large-scale marketing materials, your package includes full-resolution digital downloads with commercial usage rights.

• For Families & Identity Portraits: You receive the highest web-resolution digital files. These crisp, premium files are perfectly optimized for beautiful screen display—ideal for social media sharing, phone backdrops, and digital archiving.

To protect the artistic integrity of your images, all physical printing is handled exclusively through my studio.

Analog film carries a highly distinct texture, shadow depth, and color profile. Standard consumer labs and pharmacy counters simply cannot interpret the rich data of a medium-format film scan, which often leads to muddy, distorted prints.

• For Families: You can seamlessly order professional-grade photographic prints ad albums directly through your online gallery store.

• For Identity Portraits: Because these sessions are treated as fine-art commissions, physical exhibition prints and custom framing are curated directly through my trusted local fine-arts printer in Minneapolis to ensure museum-grade longevity.

When you work with me, communication is essential. All projects begin with getting a sense of your needs and expectations.

For Identity Portraits:
Discover - Coordinate a call to see if an identity portrait is right for you.
Create - Reflective prompts are given and processed, a video meeting is set up to discuss your story and vision and plans for your session.
Integrate - Session day. We come together to bring your story to life through medium format film images which are then delivered in your gallery and selected images chosen to print/frame. Written reflections may be integrated into your printed projet as well.

For Families
A pre-session question questionnaire is provided for me to get a sense of your family and your needs. We may e-mail or hop on a call to talk through your vision and plan for your session.
Session days are fun, light hearted and joyful. They are typically 60-90 min in home or at a location of your choice. Half/day or full-day documentary family sessions are also available and SO enjoyable.

Screen-saver optimized images are delivered in an online gallery directly to your e-mail and prints and albums can be purchased directly in your gallery.

For Interiors/Branding -
This process depends on who is reaching out and what the project is. Together we will connect in your vision, the needs of your business, gap areas to fill for imagery and how to make the most impact on your website and social media, with grant applications, residency applications, press kits, and more so that your imagery does the heavy lifting for you. Once we identify what is needed we will schedule your session. Images are delivered high resolution in an online gallery for full download. Video is also an optional addition if desired with additional fees for processing and creation.

Booking & Legal Terms:
All bookings require a 50% fee up front with the remaining amount due on or before your session.

Photo Credit & Attribution: Whenever images are published online, in print, or on social media channels, credit must be given to the Photographer. For social media platforms, this must be in the form of an active tag to @asha.studio.mpls
